You may be wondering why I have a logo from Survivor on a post about the medical profession. Well, first of all, I love this show! And I know it will be starting a new season soon and I didn’t want to miss it. I wanted to get the date and put it into my phone so that it would alert me as to when I needed to be at the ready to watch the first episode.
While I was searching for the start date, I noticed the logo. The logo always tells the theme of the season, this one being “Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers.” Now, when I think of the word Healer, I think of an energy healer…..someone who knows how to move energy to heal people. They understand how important it is to take care of the energy body so that the physical body can be at its best. But that definition isn’t mainstream. I could be wrong, but I don’t think people often think about that definition when they hear the word “Healer”. So I thought, well, maybe then “Healers” meant doctors or people in the medical profession. It was at that instant that I realized how silly that was. The people in the medical profession are not healers, in my opinion. I think a more appropriate term would be “Prescribers.” It seems that all doctors know how to do these days (other than rush onto the next patient) is to whip out their prescription pad and send you off to the pharmacy. Why aren’t doctors healers anymore? Didn’t they use to be? Why do they just give you a drug to mask the symptoms of whatever ails you? A healer gets to the root cause (often blocked or depleted energy in my opinion) of a disease. They don’t just try to cover up the problem with pharmaceuticals.
Another issue I have with the medical profession is that I am not convinced they really want a patient to feel better. While I know there are caring doctors out there, I think most of them want you as a repeat customer. If they heal you, they lose your money (or your insurance money, most likely). Healing actually puts them out of business. So, perhaps they are the “Hustlers” on the new Survivor season. I know they are definitely not “Heroes” in my eyes.
I wish our medical system wasn’t so messed up, so money hungry, so hell-bent on profits, and so in bed with Big Pharma. I still have a REALLY hard time understanding how health care is a for-profit business. It seems unjust to profit off of someone’s disease or illness. All I can say is: question your doctor and insist on other forms of treatment if possible. Don’t just take that prescription and leave. Be proactive in your health!
I have a dream…..a dream that all the drug stores/pharmacies (that seem to appear on every corner these days) be replaced with energy healing centers. Let’s shift our attention to prevention and alternative healing modalities. Let’s include energy healing as part of our health care plans. Insurance would cover energy healing which would PREVENT many of the illnesses we have as well as help those afflicted with illnesses without any of the myriad of side effects prescriptions have. It would stop the reactive approach to health care that is our focus these days. That would be one method to survive this health care crisis we are in.
So, I anxiously await the new season of Survivor and will be very interested in who represents each group on the show. And I would bet my life that “Healers” aren’t members of the medical profession. If they are, I may have to send a letter to CBS and complain.
I’m sure I’ve ticked off someone reading this. Please post your complaints and comments below. I would love to hear from you.
