I have been vegan for about 2 years, but had never really delved into the world of seitan — a vital wheat gluten product. I decided I wanted to try it and on Christmas I made a BBQ “riblet” using my air fryer. Wow! It was great. Even two non-vegans liked it — BONUS!
I have learned that there are many things you can do with seitan. In the video, I show you how to make it using an air fryer. Knowing that many people probably don’t have air fryers, I decided to make a boiled version as well. Each dish was VERY different. Watch the video until the end to see whether I liked them both. 馃檪
Click HERE for the recipe I used for the air fryer. It’s really easy and very good. If you don’t have an air fryer, try baking it instead. However, I have not tried that, so no guarantees. This seitan recipe is also the one I used for the boiled version. I simply divided the seitan into two and made it two different ways.
Click HERE for the recipe I used for the vegan beef broth. It includes pork and chicken, too, if you prefer that. Perhaps if I had made the seitan recipe that went with this version I would have liked it better.
If you decide to try this, I would love to hear your feedback. Every vegan and non vegan should keep an open mind and give seitan a try. I have just begun to experiment with this very interesting food. I encourage you to do the same.
