I decided to make these red lentil and amaranth patties today because I thought it might be a good thing to take to share with friends tomorrow. Perhaps if they get a taste of how wonderful vegan food can be they will be intrigued to learn more about vegan eating. Sometimes you have to work people through their stomach. You have to prove to them that vegan food is delicious, so that is my purpose for making these today. And I thought, why not do a blog about it. I definitely like sharing recipes. Mudras are “yoga for the hands” and are very simple and easy gestures you can use for a variety of moods you want to change. The two on the video are for an energy boost. Don’t take a nap or grab caffeine, do a mudra instead! Mudras take just a couple of minutes to do. The word mudra come from the Sanskit language and can be translated into “to seal.” You start a mudra with an intention. You are stating that this is how you want it to be and therefore you are sealing in your intent. Your mood, or release of emotions, can happen using mudras because of this intention as well as the fact that you are physically participating by forming the hand gestures. Breathing is also integral to mudras. They all require a calming, deep breath to accompany the gestures. Set a time for 2 or 3 minutes or hold the… Read More
Just a quick post today because it seems like ages since I posted. One reason for not posting is that I took a trip to Colorado. During my trip I was able to dip my feet into the cool mountain waters. When you stick your feet in a stream or just stand on the cool grass, you are grounding yourself. When is the last time you walked barefoot in the grass or sand? When your feet physically touch the ground, you connect your energy to Mother Earth’s energy and only positive things can happen. When you hula hoop you also ground yourself and align your root chakra. So there is nothing better to do to ground yourself than to hoop in bare feet. It is a wonderful experience. While my one picture looks like I am screaming — the water was cold, but I was playing it up for the camera for a funny picture. … Read More
This is a bread that takes me back to my childhood, so it is definitely a comfort food. I have attached a picture of the recipe so you can try it yourself. Of course, I used a plant based milk and also organic flour. On the flour I read that it was “unbromated.” I looked that up and I learned why potassium bromate is added to flour which I got from King Arthur Flour’s website. Potassium bromate (KBrO3), is a flour “improver” that strengthens dough and allows for greater oven spring and higher rising in the oven. However, also learned this from Integrative Mom: …..potassium bromate is an additive used in most commercial flour and baked goods. It’s cheap to add this toxin that creates stronger dough, and helps bread rise higher and look whiter. It’s also a human carcinogen. That’s right, it causes cancer. So, I learned something new as I made this bread… Read More
There are so many people who never breathe deeply. They live their lives taking shallow, short breaths and their health can suffer as a result. This is a very simple technique that not only gets you breathing deeply, but it also crosses energy over your body so it can be doubly wonderful for your body. When you breathe in, do so through the nose with the tip of your tongue on the roof of your mouth. When you breathe out, breathe through your mouth with the tongue on the bottom of your mouth. These are slow, deep breaths. You should practice until you feel comfortable. Once you have the breathing down, I want you to visual balance. That can be the word “balance” or it can be a teeter totter, or you balancing on something. Whatever works for you is fine. Just focus on balance. Your feet and hands come next. Start with your feet. … Read More
One day when I was hooping and studying about energy a lightbulb went off. It finally occurred to me how helpful hula hooping is to my energy body. The body wants energy to cross over from one side of your body to the other. Unfortunately, many people have energy that only runs homolaterally (going in the same direction) with none of their energy crossing over. By simply spinning the hoop around your waist, you are spinning the energy too – it is helping your energy to crossover your body, which is a great benefit to your energy body and, therefore, your physical body. If you haven’t mastered waist hooping, fear not. There are hoop exercises you can do – figure 8s for example – that don’t require on body hooping skills. Even just simply standing with your hoop in front of you and moving it back and forth (an isolation move) while switching your hands… Read More
I have a bumper sticker on my fridge that says “A closed mind is a wonderful thing to lose.” It inspired me today. I find it frustrating when people who feel miserable, are in pain, and are pumping themselves full of prescription drugs (which only mask the symptoms and does not get to the root cause of the problem) are unwilling to try diet to help themselves. This is a simple, low-cost alternative. But so many times I have heard “No, I can’t give up……(you name the animal based food)” I mean, can’t you even try for a couple weeks just to see if you would feel better? No — the closed mind can really hinder people’s willingness to help themselves. I just don’t understand. I guess they prefer feeling miserable — perhaps from the sympathy they get from others. Can someone explain this to me? Wouldn’t being open to trying a new diet be… Read More
This is the first video blog in my new place in my new town. I am finally getting settled in and Marble is transitioning better now. Things are looking better and brighter! I have been wanting to make this cheese since I saw it demonstrated in early June. I finally found time and had all the ingredients to do it. It turned out great!! As you will see from the video, it makes quite a bit of cheese. Being a single person, I often let food go bad in my refrigerator simply because I can’t eat it fast enough. I didn’t want that to happen to this cheese so I thought I would try it on my toast this morning instead of vegan butter. I definitely give it a thumbs up! Once it gets warm it spreads very easily. Definitely give it a try. You can watch the video below. Click HERE for a link… Read More
Marble (my dog) and I moved to our new place and city on July 3, leaving behind a wonderful house which, unfortunately, was just not in the right area for me. I feel very freed in that I am no longer tied to a place that just wasn’t serving my highest good. There was just something that was holding me back there and I never really felt that I made any REAL connections with people. That is one reason why I left. Another is that I was working in a career that became life draining for me and it offered me nothing in regards to satisfaction or enjoyment. So, I had to move. However, now I can state it as past tense…..I did move and now it is done. My house is under contract so soon my ties to the area where I spent 15 years of my life is now practically over. Happy, oh… Read More
I have been doing Reiki for a few years now, but I just started doing Reiki 1 attunements since becoming a Reiki Master. I feel so blessed to be able to give the gift of Reiki to other people. I believe it truly adds to their health and happiness, as well as their family’s health and happiness. This video blogs gives two testimonials from a mother and daughter I had the privilege of giving Reiki 1 attunements to recently. I sincerely appreciate their willingness to be part of this video blog. In the video I referred to the Cleveland Clinic and how it uses Reiki as a healing method for their patients. Click here to read an article about it. One of my goals for the remainder of 2017 is to offer Reiki attunements to families. Think of how wonderful it would be for families to regularly give Reiki to each other! I am extremely… Read More
Here is a video that shows how to make a quick sun dried tomato pesto pizza. The moral of this video is READ THE LABELS. My problem is that I don’t take the time to put on my glasses to see the fine print on things I buy at the store. I think, though, that perhaps the best thing to do is purchase things that DO NOT have labels (i.e. whole foods!!). Duh! I learned a lot doing this video. Next task: a recipe to make my own sun dried tomato pesto. You can watch the video below.
My word for 2017 is SHIFT. I knew that my current status was not working at my place of employment or my place of residence. I tried to make it work, but our energies just weren’t jiving, so changes needed to be made. So I made them. I decided to shift my way of thinking, my way of living, my way of existing. Since January I have been shedding myself of all the excess junk and things I had accumulated. I feel so much lighter now, but I think I still have some clearing out to do. I decided to move back to my roots to be closer to family. I know this is the right choice for me and my official move is in just a few days. I leave a house I love — that if I could move it 120 miles to my new location I would. But I leave it behind… Read More
I found this recipe at the bottom of an avocado soup recipe. It was so good! Although I never used sour cream much in my dairy eating days, I loved this so much I wanted to share it. I also use it on things like baked zucchini and as a dip for veggies. So, it has many uses. Please post a comment if you make this to let me know if you like it or not. This is me as I struggle to be a web page designer. I have been trying to merge Mail Chimp and Word Press which allows people to subscribe to my blog and get regular emails when I have posted something new. Sounds easy, but for me, with little or no experience in this realm, it makes me a little crazy. It is a work in progress. Bear with me and let me know any frustrations on your end. Still no nibbles on my house. I keep picturing it sitting empty with no prospects. I have such a great house. Not sure why people can’t see past the outdated kitchen/bathroom/basement and really see how awesome it is. It is a house you can make your own — redesign it how you would like to suit your needs. It’s very disheartening and frustrating that people are not seeing the potential of this wonderful piece of property. … Read More
On a whim one day I decided to videotape my dog who was having all sorts of fun with an old Frisbee that had the middle removed. She was having so much fun. I noticed that her moves were very much like the ones I had been practicing with my hoop. Here is my dog, Marble, having a ball with her “hula hoop.”
I gave up dairy about 6 months ago and have slimmed down a bit as the video will show. I have a lot to say about the dairy industry (no, milk does not do a body good — it only lines the pockets of the dairy industry). Have you considered that are we the ONLY animals on Earth to drink another animal’s milk? Secretions from cows are off my list. To be honest, I did not think I could give up cheese, but I did and haven’t looked back. The book I briefly mentioned was The China Study. A must read for all humans — especially doctors. I don’t visit the doctor much, but when I did recently I asked him if he had ever read The China Study. He had never heard of it. Therein lies one of the many problems with our health care industry. Let me know if you think I slimmed… Read More
This is my second video blog in 2 days! I just got inspired, I guess. I knew I was going to have this pizza for lunch, so I thought I would share how to do it. There isn’t really a recipe, which makes it so easy. If you decide to make it and try it for yourself, please leave a comment. I am curious to know whether you liked it or not. This is my first video blog, so any comments or suggestions you have are welcome. It is in regards to how I helped my Baker’s cyst using Young Living Oils.
