Last year at this time I gave 5 tips to make 2019 the healthiest year ever. These tips still ring true and if you missed it last year, CLICK HERE to read these tips. For 2020 I wanted to do something a little different. Since the year is 2020 which is perfect vision, I thought I would share some of the visions of how I would like to make 2020 a great year. Look around…everything you see was a vision in someone’s mind before it ever became reality. I see 2020 as a year of vision and following through on that vision so that it becomes a reality.
1. LISTEN TO MORE MUSIC
For whatever reason, I have gotten out of the habit of listening to music regularly. Music is and always has been a passion of mine, but recently I have been listening to other things like podcasts or books on tape or nothing at all. For 2020 I see myself choosing music more. It can be old music or new music. I might even make my own music through drumming. I have been thinking about buying a tongue drum. These are lovely instruments that sound wonderful and can be quite peaceful and relaxing. CLICK HERE for a sample. Playing this would be helpful for meditation too. It would keep me more focused — find a rhythm and play it over and over. That is what I like to do when I drum. Let’s face it, music is a universal language that everyone can relate to. While not everyone listens to or enjoys the same music I think we can all agree that music adds a wonderful dimension to our lives. In 2020, do you see yourself turning on the music to relax, dance, meditate, do the dishes? Whatever you choose, music will make it better.
2. PURGE AND REORGANIZE
I have spent the latter part of 2019 cleaning out things I no longer need. Purging is such a good thing. I did so much purging before I made my big move back home that I thought I had gotten rid of everything I possibly could. WRONG. As the years go by, I have slowly started letting things go by giving them away, selling them online, recycling them, or throwing them away. I had stored many boxes of things in my mom’s attic and garage prior to my move — things I wanted to keep but knew I didn’t need right away. Now 2 years later, I decided it was time to get in there and clean things out. It feels so good to know my stuff is no longer cluttering her house. I have started to like that my things are becoming less and less. I still hang onto things that I really can’t part with, but my old age is causing me to release my grip on some of these things more easily. Once things have been purged, it’s time to reorganize and make sure all is in order. It really is a great feeling to see a box, closet, or shelf that was a total mess clean and organized. I know there is more for me to do in this area and 2020 should be a time when I lighten my footprint on the Earth even more. In 2020 do you see yourself ready to purge yourself of unnecessary stuff?
3. KEEP LEARNING
I love to learn –that’s probably why I wanted to become a teacher. In 2020 I want to see clearly something I didn’t know before. To do this I have to learn. At this point in time, I am not sure what I want to learn, but I know I need to learn something. Whether it’s an official class or simply a book I read, I want to expand my brain. As I get older, I know that I have to continue to exercise my brain as well as my body in order to age gracefully. I have always wanted to learn a foreign language. Perhaps 2020 is the time. What do you see yourself learning in 2020?
