Have you ever noticed how our lives are filled with chemicals? They surround us and it’s sometimes hard to break free of them. Sometimes you don’t realize you are even smelling chemicals. For example, we are heading into the Christmas season and stores will have near their entrances bags of pine cones which scent (or stink up, in my opinion) the front of the store. I love the smell of pine — don’t get me wrong — but this smell is created by chemicals made by humans. These chemicals harm my body when I breathe them in. So why would I want them in my house? And do I really want to shop in a store that is damaging my health (although I am sure they are unaware of the dangers)? These are things I ponder as I try to navigate this incredibly toxic world.
