Wow! Time flies and I realize it has been awhile since I wrote a blog post or video. I did plan to post a blog about a vegan cookie I made, but it turned out to be not quite as tasty as I had hoped, so I decided against it. Ah well, not all recipes work as you know.
As the year winds down, I realized that 2018 is upon us and I needed to pick a new word for the year. This will be the 4th time I have chosen a word of the year. I am so grateful that I started doing that.
In 2015 my word of the year was CHANGE. That was the year I decided to take a leave of absence from school and it was a year of change for me. The change was so good for me because I felt locked in a prison. It was as if I had been set free. Definitely a positive change.
In 2016 my word of the year was CONNECT. I chose that word because being out of the confines of the classroom allowed me more time to meet and connect with people, especially working at Local Roots, which had so many diverse people to meet and get to know. And I did make good connections that year. I am grateful for each and every one of the people I met and became friends with.
In 2017 my word of the year was SHIFT. This year was a major year of shift for me because I quit my well paying job, sold my wonderful house, and moved back home. I have absolutely no regrets, though. It was about 1 year ago that I decided something had to change for me. I am so proud that I did not let fear take over so much that I just stayed with the status quo. Shifting is hard! But I did it and, now that the shift is done, it’s onto 2018.
I really didn’t have to think long to come up with my word for 2018. In an instant it came to me — FORWARD. The shift is done and now it is time to go forward, never looking back. I have been working on my online coaching business, but it seemed to come to a halt toward the end of the year. Everything is in place for me to pursue online coaching, but now I just need to do it. My coaching class is done where I learned a ton of information about how to succeed in this business. My ideas have been thought out. My classes for future clients are planned and ready. Now I just need to move FORWARD and make it happen. I am also happy to report I have found a new man and hope to move forward with the relationship too. Yes, another wonderful thing that happened because I was willing to make the shift this year.
So, I encourage all of you to choose a word for 2018 — one you will refer to often and one that will give you a goal to work toward. I have really enjoyed choosing a word each New Year. It keeps me focused on what is important. I would love it if you would share your word of the year for 2018. It may inspire someone else to do it too. Choose a word and shout it from the rooftops. Happy holidays and Happy New Year to everyone!
